As citizens and voters of Clayton County, we do not support the merger of Clayton County Board of Health with LaGrange Health District. We are requesting that the Legislature funds the District Health Director position and the Health Department to give our County a leader and voice in Public Health. We are also asking Public Health Leadership, the Clayton Legislative Delegation and the County Commissioners and Chairman to meet with us. We would also like for leaders to speak with the employees at the Clayton County Board of Health to get their input and thoughts on the current Interim Health Director as their current and potential future permanent leader. Has all potential funding losses been considered since Clayton will no longer be operating as a District In Public Health? Have the employee job losses been considered since all the District level positions will go away? Did anyone think to bring this to us for discussion as Clayton's constituents? We understand that thes cuts were a direct request of the Governor (per the current HD leadership). We, the Concerned Citizens of Clayton County, do not support the merger and strongly urge our leadership in Clayton to consider our population, services needed, and the employees that will be affected. The funding for a District Health Director in Clayton (the county as a whole for that matter) must be restored immediately. This merger DOES NOT make sense financially nor demographically for Clayton. We DO NOT support your decision to merge Clayton County with LaGrange. We do not need a "super district" in Clayton. Please fix this now!!!
