PNC Bank has announced they will be closing the Cecil branch located on Millers Run Road on May 17, 2013.
This will leave the Cecil area without a bank for the first time in decades, and will create unreasonable hardships on residents, many of whom are senior citizens who have trouble traveling to another branch or making use of electronic banking. The closing will have a negative impact on existing local businesses who require a local bank and also deter new businesses from moving into the area. Even people who aren't PNC customers will feel the impact of the branch's closure.
PNC reported a 46% increase in profits last quarter. Improving PNC's profit margin is insufficient to justify depriving the people of Cecil Township of a community asset without a detailed and honest explanation. Cecil Township is a nationally recognized, award-winning, growing community, and if PNC chooses to abandon us, don't be surprised if we abandon PNC in favor of another bank willing to commit to a local presence.
We, the people of Cecil Township, respectfully ask PNC to reconsider the closing of the Cecil branch, or at the very least agree to attend a meeting with local residents to learn firsthand about the impact PNC's decision to leave will have on our town.

my mother is 82 and walks to that branch every week. she cant just drive to another town. leave it open.
Guess im moving my accounts elsewhere. PNC obviously doesnt care about loyal customers.
Ridiculous! They make millions and cant keep a small branch open for the people who actually built their business. GREEDY.
This is going to kill the local shops around here. We need that bank in cecil.
