In September 2012, Cognita - the company which now owns St Clare's School in Newton, Porthcawl - will be changing the name to "The Griffin School". St Clare's School has been named as such for the past 73 years, and changing something like this at the drop of a hat is disgraceful, so we need to gather as much support as possible, and deliver this petition to Cognita, to ensure that our school retains its name. Pass this on to anyone and everyone that you know who went to St Clare's, and even people who didn't who are willing to show their support.

Totally unnecessary. Everyone in the area calls it St Clare's and that is not going to change just because of a sign on the gate.

St Clare's has been there for years and is part of the local history. Why mess with a name that everyone knows and loves? Leave it alone.

Cognita need to listen to the people who actually attend the school. Changing the name feels like erasing the identity of the place.

Ridiculous decision. My kids went there and it will always be St Clare's to us. Corporate rebranding is just a waste of money.
