As a former pupil of this school I have started this petition in the hope that the current Headteacher John McEachern, the staff and Board of Governors come to their senses when they realise the mistake they have made in changing the school name without any public consultation.
This is not only disrespectful to the memory of a great man who sacrificed his own life for the 650 children in the school on that fateful day in March 1943 but disrespectful to those children who have attend the school since.
During my 5 years as a student of The Sanders Draper School one of the greatest lessons I learnt was to fight for what you believe to be right!

I have sent a formal request for a meeting to the Board of Governors to discuss the lack of consultation regarding the name change. I am currently compiling a report of the historical impact of the original name to present during that discussion.

couldnt agree more penny!! my brother went here and its always been sanders draper to us. big mistake changing it.

Hello Penny, Looking at the potential activity on this campaign, I can tell that we can get some very valuable advice on petitioning experience from you. I only have 4 questions, if you (penny) or any commenter has 60 seconds to provide us meaningful insight on your experiences: 1) If you could not sign/create petitions anymore, what would be your biggest worry? 2) In regards to petitioning, are there any problems that you encounter that hinder the success of the petition? 3) What prompted you begin petitioning and supporting other petitions? 4) We are working on new ways to allow campaigners and supporters to attach monetary pledges to their petition campaigns. Does this seem like it is worthwhile to work on? BTW I signed

This is ridiculous. Everyone knows it as Sanders Draper. Stop changing things just for the sake of it.
