Proposal for Improved Connectivity of Stanton Hill through Bus Services

The East Midlands Mayor has stated that: The East Midlands will benefit from the largest transport investment in a generation, which will be used to deliver a modern, reliable, and integrated transport system across the region, with a particular focus on reducing congestion and improving connectivity between areas that have little or no transport provision at all.

We propose the following specific measures to greatly improve the ‘connectivity’ of Stanton Hill, as well as Skegby and Teversal.

  1. Retain the existing (improved) 141 service with it being hourly, reliable and keeping to schedule, and to operate on weekends, bank holidays and evenings.
  2. Modify the route to improve access, e.g. include Fackley Way and new builds.
  3. Bring back an hourly service through Teversal to replace the withdrawn Spira service which will, together with the 141, provide a half hourly service to Stanton Hill. This will also reinstate a bus service on Wild Hill.
  4. Provide a community transport service between Stanton Hill, Skegby, Teversal and Huthwaite so that patients can access all the relevant GP services provided at the Brierley Park Medical Group facilities in both Huthwaite and Healdswood.
  5. Improve bus stop safety, especially at sites with no lay-by and high speed traffic, and also effective communication of reliable information by the bus company.

Teversal needs better transport system, The former Spira route, was wonderful for us ,to get to tibshelf, through to chesterfield, Instead of having to catch 2buses to Mansfield then 1 bus to chesterfield ,to visit family .

With all these new estates being built we need a reliable bus service, I have family in the next village but unable to visit them since the bus service was taken away from tibshelf, pilsley and clay cross, where my dentist are and family.

Services need desperate improvements especially for elderly residents who need help to go to medical appointments etc if they are not able to drive because of health conditions. Buses are a lifeline to these people

This bus service is essential, and currently doesn't meet the needs of the community. It is sparse, unreliable and provides no evening service. When I worked at Kings Mill Hospital, I often had to walk from Sutton bus station to Stanton Hill, as the last 141 service had passed by at 6pm. Not a help if you finish work at 6pm! This situation became worse after the 241, then Spira service was withdrawn. One bus per hour is not enough.

I have lived in wild hill most of my life. There are a lot of elderly residents, my mother included, who would greatly benefit from having the bus service reinstated. A lot currently have to rely on family or friends for transportation. A regular bus service would allow them to regain their independence as well as enhance their lives.

This is a vital service for many elderly or infirm residents, who rely on public transport as it is affordable. These people remain isolated from the loop currently at weekends and evenings.

We need a better bus service not for people in Stanton Hill but for friends and relatives to visit
