The local authority confirmed this morning that full access to the Shotts recycling centre is restored for all charities. We have reached the objective of this campaign and will now monitor operations to ensure this policy holds.

St Patrick’s Furniture project petition to reinstate full access to Shotts recycling centre for charities and non commercial waste.

Updates

June 1, 2019

The increased visibility of this petition has prompted a formal response from the local council office. I am currently coordinating a meeting with their representatives to present our case for full site access. I will provide a summary of that discussion once it concludes.

I have made donations to this charity rather than put good items to landfill. If the charity cannot use the item, why shouldn't they be able to recycle it at no cost. After all it's what we households are being encouraged TO DO!

Absolutely ridiculous to force a charity into spending money which would otherwise go to helping needy families/people. Time for a re-think NLC

NLC come on out and tell us all what's your agenda here first council in Scotland to block a charity from using a recycling unit , the excuse of wishaw unit doesnt hold water due to the location and volume so come on tell us all the real reason

St Patricks Furniture should be able to use this dump instead of having to use more fuel & time to travel to wishaw.

It is ridiculous to put additional, unnecessary costs onto a CHARITABLE endeavour, affecting their ability to provide a much needed service for local people, in a difficult financial climate.

This is a disgrace , charging a registered charity to dispose of furniture which is of new use to anyone. The new policy of charging people to dispose of their rubbish only means roads and countryside around Lanarkshire will be littered with garbage. THINK AGAIN NLC , you have a made a big mistake.
