This is a petition to help AP Recycling/Bottle Depot, currently situated near the Currie Barracks Farmers Market (CBF Base), find a new home in the SW. Why is it closing -Canada Lands has refused to renew APs lease and is renting the space to them on a month to month basis until they close AP down to make room for approved housing developments. How can we help -By lobbying the City of Calgary and City Planners for Recycling Centre Zoning near residential/commercial property -Bringing focus to the City Sarcee Yards (SW of Westhills, behind Safeway) as a location for AP Recycling / Bottle Depot to open a new facility Why find AP a new home -It is the ONLY public plastic recycling drop off in the Calgary area! -It is easily accessible and convenient for all recycled goods in SW Calgary and compliments the curb-side program (which does not consider those living in Apartments/Condos or Businesses) -It provides companies with an easily accessible drop off for their plastic recycling programs (Example: Morning Sun Health Food does a bottle return program for $0.50 or $1 off a purchase) -AP is not just a recycling depot, but a group of concerned and passionate employees committed to promoting recycling and moving us towards a greener city! AP has a history of assisting fundraisers and benefits. Once complete this petition will be delivered to the SW Community Associations, SW Aldermen, City Planners and Council as a plea for a greener city with accessible recycling facilities for all areas of Calgary. We, the undersigned, support city zoning for recycling centres and finding AP a new facility in SW Calgary.

My name is Lucinda Pearce, I am a pro-green Calgarian who is really surprised by the lack of zoning for recycling facilities in Calgary. Such a big city in yet no where the public can return all household plastics! What year are we living in I am a Herbalist and manage a Morning Sun Health Food store in Signal Hill SW. We offer a bottle return $1 off your next purchase to encourage recycling of supplement bottles, and now we have no where to recycle them! I expect and demand more from my city and I know I am not alone. Join me, for a cleaner, greener, more conscious Calgary.
