As a family/community member of St Francis Primary School (Lockleys, SA) I am concerned that:
1) Families were not consulted with prior to the decision made in term 4, 2017 that the canteen service as we know it today will discontinue from 2018.
2) no alternative options have been presented or communicated to families for a canteen service in 2018 or beyond.
3) a student voice has not been considered on what the canteen service means to them and their community.
Note: This petition will be given to St Francis Primary School Board (Lockleys, SA) in response to the letter sent to families (Nov-17) on the decision made to discontinue the canteen service as we know it today from term 1, 2018.

I really thought this might just fizzle out but the way everyone has jumped on board is honestly kind of overwhelming in the best way. It feels like the school board has to actually acknowledge us now since so many people showed up to say this matters to them. I need to print all these comments out before I head to the office because seeing them all in one pile is the only way to make this feel real.

I am astounded that no other provision was made prior to making this decision. I am also disgusted that, having been on the St Francisco payroll for over 10years, that Yvonne Arjona is effectively unemployed. Terrible, terrible decisions at play here.
Thank you for starting a petition! The notion of not having a canteen is ridiculous! What about those kids who accidentally leave their lunches at home, those parents who have to rely on this service, and giving kids access to something cold on a really hot day. No canteen is Not good enough!
As a school parent and canteen volunteer for over 16 years I have seen 1st hand the positive impact the St Francis School canteen has had for many children over the years. We see it as an essential and positive part of their overall schooling experience which would without doubt be very sadly missed.
I am very disappointed in the lack of consultation and short notice given on the decision already made. No alternative options have been presented and the community voice has not been heard (from families/ children / community).
Can we Uber eats them food if we forget! Or do they go hungry! Busy working families need support and having a canteen service offers peace of mind when we are time poor.
This is crazy! Consult parents and consider the kids!
Our kids deserve the experience of a school canteen - there must be another option outside of complete closure!

Surprising and very disappointing decision. Concepts of healthy food choices and the value of money are life skills. Is it an issue of space or profitability? Once it's gone, I just can't see it coming back. Library next?!?
