The purpose of this petition is to demonstrate to the Waterside at Coquina Key South HOA Board Members that there is sufficient interest from the membership for a special assessment instead of a 36 percent monthly HOA increase.
The special assessment would cover the increased insurance premium and contribution to reserves for outstanding projects for which the total is $1,525,567.
The benefit will be that the HOA monthly increase in 2023 will be greatly reduced and owners’ property values will be protected. Our position is that the 300% insurance premium increase will be reduced in 2023-2024 due to our roofs being completed, having wind mitigation on our buildings, asking for a 10 percent building deductible (if accepted by all federally back mortgage companies) and potentially sourcing a new insurance broker.
We are also asking for the insurance committee to begin obtaining new insurance quotes in the fall including a quote from Citizens for the entire complex.
By signing below, I affirm that I would prefer to pay a special assessment over four payments (the exact amount of which will be determined by the Board based on my unit size) instead of paying the increased premium through a monthly HOA increase.

Reaching this level of support confirms that I am not the only one feeling the weight of these proposed monthly increases. It is exhausting to fight for fairness against a board that seems set on their course but seeing this many neighbors agree gives me the strength to stay in this fight.

We would prefer the special assessment over an HOA fee increase. We have never owned a condo where the fees go down after they have gone up. We appreciate your suggestion of getting additional quotes for comparison. Thank you!

36% increase is totally unacceptable and unaffordable. We are now retired and live on a forever fixed pension. This increase would put our HOA monthly fee at close to $1000!!! That’s unsustainable for most retirees. Or even work force individuals. Please reconsider. Thanks!
