The local council has officially approved the development of the South Somerset Carnival Park. This success belongs to the hundreds of individuals who recognized the importance of safeguarding our local heritage. We will now monitor the planning process to ensure the construction remains true to our collective vision.

The Clubs, committees, groups and individuals of the South Somerset Carnival Federation have joined forces in a bid to secure their own future.

20 years ago the South Somerset Carnival Federation boasted in excess of 20 mounted entries. Today this number is down to 7.

The aim of the South Somerset Carnival Park Group is to stem this decline by creating a Carnival park, a location where clubs, individuals, walkers and groups can bulid their entries without the constant threat of eviction many experience.

This facility will be an asset for all within the Carnival community allowing growth and development in equal measure and helping to ensure the continued success of the South Somerset Federation Group of Clubs throughout all Somerset Carnivals.

Don't delay - sign up today, pledge your support for this much needed project.

Best wishes from us it is much needed and South Somerset District Council should help, Sedgemoor District bends over backwards, as they know Carnival is a money maker when it comes to town.

Many young peoples careers have been started with involvement in carnival from a young age. Lets hope the authorities use some money on a worthwhile project at last!

This is needed to secure the future of Carnival in South Somerset. So many clubs face an uncertain future, & a permanent base will allow communities to put their effort into producing better entries & being able to showcase their talents.

This needs to be sorted so clubs do not fold, as many have done through not having anywhere to build. The carnivals bring a lot of revenue to the towns in involved.

my family have always been involved in carnival with both sets of grandparents forming harlequin carnival club, a very big club in the south west Somerset carnivals circuit. This would provide a great space for clubs to build and would build a future for other generations, including my generation, so I can carry on the legacy my parents and grandparents have built
