We the undersigned wish to express our support for the continuation of a regular, daily, train service between Bishop Auckland & Darlington every day of the week, including Sundays. We feel that maintenance of the rail service to, at least, the current service levels is vital to the economy of the towns of Newton Aycliffe, Shildon and Bishop Auckland.Any reduction would cause great inconvenience and economic difficulty for the population of the area by isolating it from the National Rail Network. We believe that as railways are the most efficient and environmentally friendly means of transport we should be looking to improve the service levels and encourage people to use trains as their preferred mode of transport.

Updates

April 18, 2011

The growth in support signals a clear mandate to the regional transport authorities who manage the Bishop Line. I am now finalizing a formal letter to the rail operator to demand a meeting regarding the permanence of our current seven-day schedule.

Needs to be faster and more frequent not less. These towns are growing and we need the connection to keep up.

The bus service is useless. We rely on this line for everything. Dont isolate our towns even more than they already are!!
