We, the undersigned students of the Somers School District, implore Dr. Blanch and our Board of Education to examine all possibilities and find other areas where cost-cutting can be achieved to bridge our projected 2016-17 budget gap. We understand the difficulties facing our leadership but the Director of Guidance position is much too important to us and to the future of Somers education. We feel that there are other positions and programs that can be consolidated or eliminated that will help to bridge our budget shortfall. We cannot accept any plan that includes the Director of Guidance position being eliminated, we must, collectively, strive for a better alternative.

Dr. Hardy was an invaluable player during the high school to college transitions of so many of my friends. Though she wasn't my counselor, she always made time to speak with me and my friends whenever we needed guidance. It would be a disservice to SHS's students (and a downright shameful move on the administration's part) to let her go.

My twins are juniors at an incredible liberal arts college ranked 16 in the country. Their hard work during their high school years at Somers HS coupled with the experienced and skillful guidance provided by Dr Hardy and her staff, I believe made it possible.

Dr. Hardy was incredibly helpful and influential in my college search experience leading to my graduation in 2010. She played a crucial role in the future successes of her students and it would be a huge and irreplaceable loss to let her go.

I don't know Dr.Hardy personally but I know many people like her. I know they don't want to pay her a lot since she's has her doctor degree but at the same time the school can save money and use the money for important things not buying football gear every ear. Like fix the air condition or Windows.

This is a very important job in the district because it affects every student in the district. Upcoming high schoolers like my self might need a little help finding their perfect college and many would be lost without the director's help.

Without Dr. Hardy, I would not have had the knowledge or the guidance to get through the college process. Not, would I have had someone I could trust and come to when I needed advise and help with family, life, and school.

It is very important that Dr. Hardy stays at Somers High School. I will be a junior next year and she is critical to the college process. Thank you

We truly need Dr. Hardy. Please find another way to close the budget gap. I am a current junior at the high school. Thank you.
