Tasmanian's should not be held as “prisoners” and trapped by an unconscionable fare structure on our only means of bulk/vehicular transport to the Australian mainland!
We the undersigned hereby demandthat operators of the Bass Strait ferry must, in future, recognise their social obligations to the Tasmanian population and align their fare structure to the average cost of driving a sedan-sized motor vehicle over the same distance as that travelled by sea between Devonport and Melbourne.
ALSO
That at least 50% of every sailing be allocated to private motor traffic in the first instance and not reallocated to commercial traffic until 7 days before departure
Tasmanians are getting slugged for no reason. Fix the prices.
