We, the below signed residents of Treasure Island and Yerba Buena Island and San Francisco, petition the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, the Treasure Island Development Authority (TIDA), Treasure Island Mobility Management Agency (TIMMA) and the Treasure Island Transportation Management Agency (TITMA) to exempt current TI and YBI Island residents and businesses from vehicle tolls to get to AND from their homes and businesses. Please consider that residents live on an Island with very limited supplies and few basic services and often depend on their cars, and that business owners most likely would have to compensate their employees and vendors which would effectively drive many of them off the island.
It is an unfair proposal and immense financial burden to force Island residents and businesses to pay these tolls in both directions. With a potential third toll for the Bay Bridge itself this could end up costing as much as $13/day/vehicle! This will disproportionately affect the poor and middle class. While we fully encourage and support travel by alternative modes and all forms of public transportation, those options are not even available for years to come. Forcing Islanders to use and pay for limited bus and much later ferry services or else penalizing them with fees for using their own vehicles for daily, mandatory duties is unprecedented and highly controversial. Island residents and businesses should not be punished for needing their vehicles to lead their basic lives, do their jobs and tend to their families while already driving less than most everybody else in the Bay Area. When we use our vehicles it most often is not a matter of choice but a matter of necessity.
Exempt Treasure Island residents and businesses from vehicle tolls!

Hit 500 signatures on this thing and honestly I keep staring at the screen because I was worried nobody else felt the same way about these ridiculous tolls. It is just such a massive relief to know I am not the only one stressed about how we are supposed to get groceries or actually survive living out here without getting nickeled and dimed into total poverty every single day.

I never imagined this would actually catch fire like it has because I was mostly just frustrated when I started typing this out late at night. Seeing the momentum shift is honestly wild and it makes me feel like maybe they actually have to listen to us now since so many people get that living here without basic infrastructure makes tolls a total nightmare.

One hundred people just signed this and I am honestly kind of shocked that so many neighbors feel the same way about these ridiculous tolls. I was sitting here staring at my computer screen thinking maybe nobody would care because people are so busy but seeing this number jump up is wild. Now we have to figure out how to get the board to actually listen to us before they make this permanent.

Wow...this is analogous to gerrymandering and suppressing black/low-income votes! Having lived on TI years ago, I know that TI has a good percentage of low and middle-income folks, and forcing them to pay toll to drive in/out of that area is such a horrible idea!
Treasure island residents should not have to pay vehicle toll just to get to their homes. it is unfair, it is irrational and if anybody should have to pay a vehicle towed to come onto the island it should be tourists who just stop in the middle of the road to take photos
My storage unit for work is located on Treasure Island and I’m there a couple times a week. So this would be ridiculous for not just residents but for people going there for work!
I coached rugby at Treasure Island for San Francisco Golden Gate High School Varsity Team. And use the facility everyday to coach the youth. Please don’t let me and other coaches and players pay to go to practice on top of paying the toll for the Bay Bridge. Yours Sincerely. Coach Jone Naqica.
I have lived on Treasure Island for almost 3 years. I am reliant on my car to get to work. I work in nonprofit and live paycheck to paycheck. Please allow all current residents a break from this new toll. At the bare minimum give current residents one free round trip per day, not just those from before 2011.
This is vital to TI residents to not be pushed into funding a redevelopment many of us cannot afford. I strongly oppose this toll for residents!
It not right for us to pay pay to get on and off the island

The toll amounts to an illegal rent increase intended to force low income residents off TI so the developer won't have to pay for hundreds of replacement housing units, housing we are entitled to by law!
