The Lakes of Indianwood Subdivision has historically been a beautiful and wonderful neighborhood for its tenants, our visitors, and the community. Unfortunately, following winter weather, our roads are very difficult to navigate safely.
Over the years, these road conditions have led to countless accidents, including damage to property and other vehicles.
In 2024 alone, there have been multiple accidents between a school bus and vehicle on one of our LOI roads. In at least 2 of those instances (on 1/12 and 12/20), the bus was full of children.
We, the signers of this petition, would like to petition the Lakes of Indianwood Home Owners Association Board to add a service to improve the road conditions each winter, which would include snow and ice removal.
We, the signers of this petition, ask that roads are properly maintained within a reasonable timeframe, or by the time that buses take their morning or afternoon routes. We also ask that the roads are continuously maintained at least 1 time per day, as necessary.
We, the signers of this petition, understand that this may result in an increase to our annual HOA dues. However, we feel that an increase in these dues is worth it if it results in increased safety for ourselves, our loved ones, and our properties.

I have lived here since 1997 and never experienced safe roads in our sub. I am willing to pay more dues for added service
I would propose that the money that currently goes toward the ponds (and only benefits a few), be redirected to the roads, thereby benefiting everyone.
Our roads are very dangerous. Often a sheet of wet ice. My Jeep slides sideways at zero miles per hour. This is NOT just a “MIchigan thing” as the roads are fine and often DRY elsewhere. We’ve lived here 10 years and they’ve never been acceptable.
I would like our subdivision salted. My daughter got into an accident today in our sub. Two cars around the curve at the same time-both slid into each other. Neither was driving fast, it was just so slick in LOI sub.
I called the OCRC a couple weeks ago when our roads were so icy that I saw a school bus slide while trying to stop at Deerpath and Chieftain. The county told me that subdivisions were low priority but she would put a request in since it’s a main school bus route. I have made this call to them almost every year with much improvement. I thought our HOA fees has salting included. Even salting at turns and intersections would help.

Would love to see the roads treated sooner. A few years ago, our son slid off Indian Trail and rolled our vehicle. It was totaled. The roads were so icy that night and had not been salted or sanded. Earlier salting and plowing would prevent accidents!
