This petition is for smaller narrower buses around Portishead. The existing virtually empty Double & Single Decker buses will then operate from a hub to cover the external busy routes.

Portishead to Bristol, Cribbs Causeway, Clevedon and onwards. The use of smaller buses around the town will make the following improvements.

For parents of children it is a must to consider just what's in the air your children are breathing. By the use of one or two small buses around Portishead will reduce the Nitrogen Dioxide & Particulate (that's particles so small that you cannot see them) around the town.

So, to summarise the benefits of smaller narrower buses :-

Improve traffic flow.

Improve air quality by reducing Nitrogen Dioxide and Particulate. Especially in the High Street.

Reduce noise levels and damage to the foundation of property.

Stop damage to the infrastructure and cars caused by the large vehicles.

Make a better environment in every way for all of us.

The following comment was added to the petition by one of the residents.

This makes sense on so many levels. Residents are cut off from the main bus route in some areas and some cannot walk far enough to get to the main bus route i.e. North Weston, Redcliffe Bay, The Lake grounds. With developers relentlessly building in every piece of land, the population continues to increase, the roads are no longer wide enough for double decker buses.
