We The Residents of Short Strand, The Markets and Lower Ormeau Road are asking Ulster bus to put on a School Bus to help our children get to School safely from the areas mentioned to Ballynahinch. We have have asked Ulster bus before to accommodate these children and they declined this service therefore declining work to a worker. We are not asking for this service free of charge our children will of course still pay for the service we are just asking for this to be put in place. Could everyone from these areas who feel his/child could benefit from this service or a Bus Driver who perhaps hours has been cut due too little work please sign our petition.
At present some of these kids have to walk over one mile to use the public transport. When they get to the bus they are hoping there is room on it to get to School. In The evenings the same kids walk dangerous paths in late evening to get home.

I have been reading through the stories you are leaving about the walks your children take and it honestly breaks my heart that this is our reality. I never imagined so many people were feeling this same anxiety, and your willingness to speak up is the only reason this is even getting any attention at all.

my daughter has to do that walk every day and in the winter it is pitch black and freezing not safe at all
When I attended school in balynahinch there was always a school bus going to and from school dropped us off at the school in the morning and back to the area we lived in the evenings
It's a very long walk to the bus stop from the short strand to the gas works and It can make the students very late
My son attends school in Ballynahinch and has to walk to the gas works every morning which at times can be quite dangerous
This service is needed to ensure the safety of children going to and back from school

the current bus situation is a joke frankly. kids getting left at the stop because it is full is just not on.
