Please support to highlight the fact that there is a large population of Torres Strait Islanders who live in the Weipa area who cannot take advantage of the local fares provided by Skytrans to stay connected within Cape York and Torres Strait. This would be a much more convenient alternative to travelling home via Horn Island airport, and in return be supporting an airline whose service helps to connect the local communities of Cape York and Torres Strait. As it stands, local fares are only available to residents of the Napranum community, however as there is a large number of Torres Strait Islanders living here in the Weipa area, it will be of great benefit to both our community and Skytrans to come to a better arrangement than full fare flights which is currently our only option.
