We are LSE postgraduates students with hectic schedules and upcoming summative submissions and exams. We are paying market price at Sidney Webb House London but unfortunately we are not getting the service we are promised. First, with the heating situation and now with the lift in Block E. The last thing we need to worry about is the maintenance of our accommodation.

While we appreciate the fact that Unite Students have been "chasing" after the contractor to fix it, this situation is making our daily lives very difficult. We can't do our laundry or buy groceries because we will have to carry it on the stairs. The whole point in staying at LSE accommodation is the convenience of not to worry about chasing landlords to fix problems with the accommodation. And now we find ourselves in a situation where we are chasing them to fix the elevator instead of focusing on our studies.

This is a clear breach of our contract clause 1.1.1 that details LSE's responsibilities as follows: "1.1.1 maintain the structure of the Hall and keep the Hall and Communal Areas (including the lighting, heating and firefighting equipment within them) clean, tidy, in reasonable repair and fit for use by you and other occupiers;"

The lift in Block E has been out of order for over three weeks. The last update communicated was that it will be fixed on the 29 March, which didn't happen. This is not only an unreasonable amount of time but rather unacceptable.

Therefore, we demand the following:

1. The lift to be repaired ASAP (maximum this week).

2. We get a refund on our rent for the month of March.
