Happy Paws Fitness is a local business caring for the dogs (big and small) of our local area. We provide dog daycare, walking and bathing services, and pride ourselves on our excellent service and positive relationships with our clientele and local community. We moved into our new McLachlan Avenue facility in late 2015 and since then, we would like to think that we have added to the vibrancy and character of our local community.
Despite this, and despite being in a Council designated mixed-use zone (which allows for businesses such as ours, mechanics, car dealerships, homes, etc.), we are currently facing very strong opposition to our business from a handful of residents from a neighboring residential building. Unfortunately, our staff and clientele have been and continue to be harassed and intimidated by one of our neighbours, whom has also taken their grievances to our local Council.
Several noise readings have been taken by the Council from the neighbor’s unit and our noise levels have never exceeded the legal limit. Nevertheless, we have spent a considerable amount of money on soundproofing, as well as implementing procedures to limit noise pollution. Our aim has always been to integrate into our local community as well as possible. Unfortunately, our neighbours continue their campaign to discredit and harm our small business.
We are working hard to find some middle ground to appease our neighbours whilst protecting the wellbeing of our staff, customers and the future of Happy Paws Fitness. In the meantime, we have drafted this petition to demonstrate to the Council that we provide a valuable service to our clients, our local community and that we should be allowed to continue to operate our little business!

I have submitted a formal package of our noise compliance reports and community testimonials to the Council planning department. We are currently clarifying the specific administrative channels needed to address the ongoing harassment of our staff.

It often seems like there are more dogs than children in Potts Point/Rushcutters Bay/Darlinghurst. Pet owners need day care options just as much as those who have children. It's a very professionally run operation that serves an invaluable service for people in this area.
Happy Paws is a local business that provides an amazing service and job to the community of pet lovers. I live next door to them and often utilise their service for my dog. Their service really does add to the vibrancy of our community. Kind Regards, Trevor:).
This place is an absolute necessity for the local community dogs. These dogs have a right to a place to go every day. Without this local availability I fear every neighbour to these dogs will be effected by the lonely wails whilst they sit at home. Don't take one subjective anti-animal opinion over hundreds of supporters!
Happy Paws are professional, considerate and provide a much needed service in a built up inner city area that would otherwise leave barking and distressed dogs at home. The staff could not be more mindful or respectful. We fully support them.
Happy Paws provide such an important service in a built up city center location where pets are living in apartment buildings. Rather than leave them cooped up barking in apartments they are able to socialize with other dogs. All of the staff are responsible and considerate and I can not vouch for them highly enough.
Laily and I have been always very happy with the service and approach the Happy Paws provide to the community.

Given Happy Paws has complied with regulations and gone beyond the call of duty to appease its neighbours by installing soundproofing (in an industrial area), the cause against them seems extremely unfair.
