Everyone complains to the Animal Controls and rescues about animal abuse and lack of justice, well this is why!! Animal Welfare Laws are poor, weak, lack definition and hold very little conviction and punishment in a court of law. Shelbyville Animal Control provided a revised version of the animal welfare ordinances to the Shelbyville City Council August 2020. We need to let our city and county officials know we demand stronger laws to protect our animals. Please join with us to raise awareness with strength in numbers. It is terrible how people are allowed to mistreat animals and nothing is done. We need some strict laws in place. I myself have found a whole litter of puppies FROZEN to death. We had a neighbor put his dog in an 8' x 8' pen and forgot about him. We found him dead one day.... This has to stop.
Animals deserve better. Need to have stricter laws so animal control can do a better job. Your laws prevent them from helping the animals that need it most.
Yes please! We have been in contact with animal control about backyard breeding going on next door causing all kinds of problems for us, and the poor dogs deserve better! But they can’t do “anything” about it
Bedford County needs to step up and make it easier to report and take these animals away from those that dont care about their welfare. Lets also pass a law that if we know of an animal being neglected we have a way to rescue it, not wait until they freeze or starve to death.
Yes, we want strong laws and protection for animals. And harsh penalties for animal abusers! If they abuse an animal they will abuse anything or anyone weaker than them. When will society wake up and see this!

Given the abuses inflicted in the walking horse industry, it's no wonder the animal abuse laws are weak. Time to change this to protect all of our animals!
