We, the undersigned citizens and taxpayers of Panola County, Mississippi, respectfully request that the Panola County Board of Supervisors take immediate action to improve animal control services throughout our county.
Our community continues to experience problems with stray, abandoned, neglected, and dangerous animals. These issues affect public safety, animal welfare, and the quality of life for our residents. We believe Panola County can better serve its citizens by strengthening its animal control program.
We respectfully request that the Board:
- Increase funding and resources for animal control services.
- Ensure adequate staffing so animal control officers can respond promptly to calls throughout the county.
- Strengthen the enforcement of existing animal cruelty, neglect, and animal containment laws.
- Improve procedures for responding to reports of dangerous or aggressive animals.
- Establish or expand a safe county shelter or holding facility for stray and abandoned animals.
- Support affordable spay and neuter programs to help reduce the number of unwanted animals.
- Work with local veterinarians, rescue organizations, law enforcement, and community volunteers to develop long-term solutions.
— Provide regular public updates regarding animal control policies, enforcement, and community resources.
We believe these improvements will:
Increase public safety.
Reduce animal suffering.
Help prevent dog attacks and traffic hazards.
Support responsible pet ownership. Improve the quality of life for all residents of Panola County.
We respectfully ask the Panola County Board of Supervisors to place this matter on a Board meeting agenda, hear public input, and develop a plan to strengthen animal control services for our county.

The stray animal population is out of control here in panola County. We need a facility where these animals can go be safe and find loving homes. They're also needs to be help with injured and stray animals so they're not suffering and have a chance to seek medical care
We should be the voices for the voiceless. PC has a chronic problem with strays and abandoned pets. This is long overdue.
Pet spay and neuter is what a responsible pet owner does .

Animal dumping in Enid Shores has lost us financially and emotionally. We've had dumped and stray dogs attack our other animals and kill several. We've not been able to feel safe walking to our mailbox because of dogs. It's not okay. We shouldn't have to arm ourselves to go outside in our own yard.
