There are inconsistencies amongst the Publix dress code that have been around since the beginning. Male employees are not permitted to wear earrings while female employees can. Due to the changes that society has come to, I feel it is necessary that all employees, regardless of their sex, should have to abide by the same dress code so that Publix can grow into a more welcoming and accepting place to work.

I have been reading through the notes many of you left about your own frustrations with these rules. It is clear that I am not the only one who feels this way and this momentum belongs entirely to the people who took the time to speak up.

I am honestly overwhelmed by the momentum we are seeing right now and I never imagined this would reach so many people who feel the same way. This progress belongs entirely to all of you who chose to speak up.

None of the positions I have worked in the private sector have had an issue with my earrings. This is silly.

Seems sort of unfair I can’t wear just simple conservative earrings because I’m a male.. my girlfriend pierces and sells earrings for a living and I can’t let her do mine because of of a rule from 1930, almost a hundred years ago when the company was founded.

Just been told i can’t wear my little studs while the hiring manager had big sparkly earrings.. i might be a man but my earrings aren’t even noticeable. It’s just a grocery store, there is no need to be so strict

This is sexist and discrimination. Males would be allowed to wear something women can. Another good point that was point to my attention today was women don't have to tuck in their shirts like men do at work.

I agree, the women at my publix can have those chokers around there neck and bandanas around their hair to keep it up while men can not have earrings or beards

Since I've started working at publix at age 14, I've questioned why men aren't allowed to wear earrings. I was only told, "it's not conservative" and nothing more. Following this, my days off wearing earrings was greatly reduced to wear 3 or less days out of the week because of work. I'm now 16 years old and I unknowingly worn my earrings to work. Everything was fine until my manager spotted me and asked me to remove them in a kind manner. So I returned the gesture asking in the nicest way possible as to why men aren't allowed to wear earrings at publix. Turns out the answer was the same with the same blunt response. I then asked why is it conservative for men to not wear earrings and I was told it's just not. End of story.

All rules and regulations should be completely gender neutral.
