Certain school systems have dress codes that favor one gender over another, and Blount Co. Alabama is no different. Though the dress code has many respectable regulations that should be closely followed, some are present that are in favor of one gender over another. Female students have a respectable dress code that offers more self expression over the Male students. An example of this would be that lesbian students have to freedom to dress in a way that is respectful, but traditional to young men. Why should young men not be allowed to dress themselves that expresses themselves in a respectable manner? This is not suggesting that certain controversies such as, cross-dressing or picking which bathroom to use, should be allowed. This is about a dress style that has found its way into modern society: Ear rings. Female students are allows to wear ear rings so long as they do not distract education for other students. Why shouldn't the same rule be so for Male students? Certain rules could be put in place to ensure that male ear rings are not a distraction or threat to other students such as size and style of ear ring. Though males can be more aggressive than females, who is to say females are not capable of using their ear rings as a weapon? Pens, pencils, and other sharp objects can be used as a weapon, but they are allowed in schools. Furthermore, if a student is found to have used a sharp object as a weapon they are punished according to the code of conduct. This same principle could be used for ear rings, though if regulated correctly the possibility of ear rings being dangerous could be almost eliminated. If a student is purposely using the jewelry as a distraction to the class, they should be punished. Otherwise all students should be allowed to freely express themselves with this jewelry; so long as it produces a positive, respectful image of themselves and their school, no matter their gender.
it makes no sense to ban earrings for guys when girls are wearing them everyday. just keep them small and its fine.
