The Seaholm Student Section has been taken away their ability to play their own music and bring in a speaker at football games to get the student body excited and loud for the team, which is the main job of a student section. Our homecoming game is coming up and we need the music back. Please sign this petition to show to the administration that the majority of parents want to see their kids having fun and do not mind the music from the section. Having music at the game seems like harmless fun. It is my understanding that all the music is preapproved & not inappropriate. Seems unnecessary to ban it.
I am not sure what the intent of the prohibition is, but it would help to see the link between what you are trying to accomplish and the new changes. I did not find what they were doing objectionable, but I am a casual observer. Perhaps we can find other ways to let them still have fun in the tradition of the Maples, while reaching your goals.
I am a parent of a Seaholm student have been to almost all the home games and the student section and the music makes for a very fun and festive evening. The students are always very respectful and there never seems to be any problems. I would be curious to know why the decision was made to get rid of it in the first place? I say bring back the music.
The marching band also plays music at many points of the game to get people excited. This is for the student section to keep kids excited and engaged in the game while having fun with their friends. We incorporate both band and the speaker to play our own music for the football games and it has been this way for years.
Disappointing to see the kid’s speaker taken away. My girls have been so bummed out due to this. Hopefully the administration will come around and let the students enjoy their time at the football games. Good luck kids!

I'd prefer the focus of those in charge to be on the BIG issues - this seems like a no brainer!

Please allow the music. THIS IS HIGH SCHOOL, this is THEIR homecoming, the kids are SUPPOSED TO BE ROCKING OUT AT THEIR GAMES!! Plus this is an excellent example of an engaged student population advocating for themselves. It should be acknowledged and rewarded.
