As a proud supporter of Australian cane growers, I am signing this petition show my full support for farmers being given the choice to market through their industry-owned body, QSL, because of the real transparency it gives growers.
I am signing this petition to add my strong objection to the NO CHOICE proposal being put forward by Wilmar and demand that all growers retain the right to continue to have their share of raw sugar priced and sold through the industry owned marketing company, Queensland Sugar Ltd (QSL).
I support our cane growers’ claim over their two thirds economic interest in the raw sugar, and believe that they deserve the right to determine how that sugar is priced and sold.
I am concerned by the lack of transparency in the proposed structure and the implications for competition in the Australian sugarcane industry in the long term.
Your proposal as it currently stands might suit Wilmar, but it is not in the long term best interests of the Australian sugar industry – particularly not for the growers on which it relies. Without the growers, there is no sugar industry.
I am standing shoulder to shoulder with sugarcane growers, industry stakeholders and community counterparts in asking Wilmar to address my concerns for the future of Australian sugarcane farmers.

Wilmar continues to ignore the economic stake our growers have in their own product. Check the link on this page and email your local representative to demand they defend the right for growers to choose QSL marketing. We need to keep the pressure on until they acknowledge our industry interests.

we have seen dairy farmers ruined when big compaines have taken over the selling of milk just like wilmar is trying to do to the sugar industry
Wilmar Sugar Trading is the ONLY beneficiary of the Wilmar proposal. WST is a middleman, growers get LESS!! No middlemen feeding from the trough with QSL !
Our single desk has served the interests of growers for over a hundred years. Wilmar, hands off our single desk
Wilmar wont acknowledge our 66.66% sugar title,but were quick to handball the 2010 shortfall bill to the growers.
growers invest 2/3 of the risk in growing the crop, they need a strong say in the marketing of their produce!
