As many of you have read from University of North Georgia President, Bonita Jacobs, the school is increasing our athletic fee by $34.00 a semester for students at the Dahlonega campus. As noted in the email sent to students, she states that the fee will, "enable us to increase scholarship availability for student-athletes." Many of you have expressed your concerns over this extra fee on top of the recent USG tuition increase of 5% as well as other fee increases such as the transportation fee. One of the biggest concerns that many students have with this is the fact that why are we paying for scholarships for student athletes, on top of what we already have to pay for ourselves. It's completely unfair and it needs to come to a halt.
The point I'm trying to make is that we the students, have a voice and it needs to be heard. We as students fund a major portion of the school and we should be expressing our opinions. Please sign this position in hopes of getting rid of the increase in the athletic fee.

I am currently gathering all of your feedback to present directly to the administration. Call the President's office today and demand they reconsider this unfair charge. Keep pushing this link out on Twitter and tagging the school leaders so they see exactly how many of us are against this.

Why should we pay for the scholarships for the athletes? Athletes make up a very small percentage of the school system. This doesn't benefit the majority of the students.
This ridiculous. How do these scholarships help the student body overall? Our school is already overcrowded. We aren't even a big sports school.
I find it hard to support a rise in athletic fees to support athletes when I pay for all of my education with a full time job. #needmoreparking
I don't even go to any of the school athletic events. it is completely unfair for me to pay someone else's tuition for a sport when you don't offer volleyball as a sport for me to try out for a scholarship.
I should not being paying out of my own student loans to allow another student to attend for free.

How about the board members take a cut in their paychecks to fund fees for once. I seriously doubt they need almost $3mil per year for athletics.
