We, the students of the University of Nairobi, say no to the school fee hike and call on the University of Nairobi to withdraw this increase at once. This sudden and unexplained change is placing a heavy burden on students and families, and it is making it harder for many of us to stay in class and remain enrolled.
Education should open doors, not close them. When fees rise without a transparent and fair explanation, students are left carrying the cost of decisions they did not make and were not prepared for. That creates stress, uncertainty, and real barriers to learning. Some students may be forced to delay their studies, struggle to keep up, or step away altogether. That is not acceptable.
We stand together in solidarity because this affects the whole university community. We are asking for fairness, transparency, and respect for students’ right to continue their education without being pushed out by unreasonable charges.
We therefore demand that the University of Nairobi reverse the fee hike, explain any proposed changes clearly, and engage students in a meaningful way before making decisions that affect our attendance and enrolment. Our education matters, and we will not accept policies that place it out of reach.

Some students come from families that are struggling to get by. Increasing the fee will just cause a lot of potential student drop out
I am a module 2 student and the proposal is detrimental to my normal sustainability in school!
It's important as the fees were increased without consultation and abruptly contrary to the circular from the Ministry of Education.
It will make me drop out of school. 50,000 isnt pocket change. Let the fee remain as it was. The doctrine of legitimate expectation applies.
We were not notified early enough about the increased school fees
It is unfair for the school to change terms once we have committed ourselves to the studies.
The University must tame its insatiable appetite for money and stop unlawfully, haphazardly, arbitrarily and sadistically punishing Module-II Students who are already financially pushed to the wall! The University is literally chasing and pushing us out of class
