This petition is to fight the proposed Casino in Stratford Hills (this is one of three being considered, origanally there were six).
What makes this site particularly abhorrent is it is in a neighborhood that runs a long the James River. We are also concerned for the WILDLIFE IN THE WOODS AND THE WETLANDS behind the Target and Publix, the land that will be clear cut. We certainly do not believe that a wetlands area is the place to put it, should the city get their wish in erecting a Casino. What dire consequences the proposed Casino will have on the lives of all these flora and fauna we desperately need to remain a healthy eco-system. They will be homeless, and quite likely eradicated. Also, this area has great hiking and bike trails.
Additionally, we are terribly concerned that because the projection of the Casino is for nearly 4 million people to visit it every year... our roads and the traffic will be awful.

I honestly never thought we would reach 250 signatures when I started this. It blows me away that so many of you care about our wetlands and local wildlife as much as I do. This momentum belongs entirely to the people who took the time to speak up for our neighborhood.

I live in the city and work in Bon Air. I drive Forest Hill Ave. every day. I believe that this location would be detrimental to the neighborhoods and cause an already overloaded road to become impossible to navigate safely.
This is an inappropriate location for a casino for many reasons, including the surrounding residential character, the inaccessibility for traffic, and the sensitive environmental features on the site (perennial streams, forested wetlands, CBPA Resource Protection Area).
This area cannot support a project of this scale. - Powhite Parkway around the toll plaza floods with a few inches of rain, NOW. -The traffic on Powhite S between the toll plaza and Chippenham is already a hot mess. - Forest Hill Ave cannot sustain this influx of cars.
I come from New Orleans East near many casinos in the city and those in Biloxi. For the survival of the business and for the survival of the neighborhoods BOTH, such enterprises need to be situated along major interstates near other tourist attractions like the convention center, etc.
This casino would be bad for the environmental impacts as well as the neighborhood. The income brogubt in by the casino would not directly benefit the neighborhood and would likely widen any socioeconomical gaps that already exist.
No casino!!!

this site is behind a grocery store & a Target, high school, middle school are in walking distance, neighborhoods are all around all of which makes it a bad location, also there are wetlands to consider - i say no to this site being developed for gambling !
