The Cheltenham Transport Plan has been passed by the local council. It is a plan that would see boots corner pedestrianised, restricting all traffic except busses. The plan would result in increased traffic through other smaller streets in the town and could possibly be detrimental to tourism to the town. This plan could kill our high street. Show your support against this plan and sign our petition.
ive been spending the last few days talking to local business owners who are just as worried as we are about the foot traffic changes. it is clear that moving the congestion to smaller side streets is going to be a disaster for everyone trying to get around town.

i cant believe how much energy is building up around this issue lately. seeing so many people speak up to protect our high street really shows how much we all care about this town.

A good plan invites people into a town centre not let them drive round it for ages and give up! Make no business sense at all.

Turning Boots Corner into a crossroads for buses and taxis will do nothing to promote the safety of pedestrians. It will also send more cars down Rodney Road increasing the danger. Pedestrianise fully Winchcombe Street and Pittville Street instead!

Definitely not thought through (despite the amount of money already spent). Imagine a bus doing a 90 degree turn into North Street!

For eighteen months the promoters have refused to explain where the traffic goes or the night time volumes diverted through residential streets, or account for the increased danger, this is not a transport plan but an excuse to try and close Boots Corner.

This will be a disaster for St. Paul's resulting in increased traffic, more pollution and fewer direct routes, especially north/south.

The trial along Bath Road already proves how awful this is going to be. Listen to the people of Cheltenham for a change please. The other idiotic thing you've done is the narrowing of the Bath Road outside Sainsburys and the shops - this causes congestion all the way up to the Norwood when it never used to be that bad immediately before the change. Please see reason.

This proposal can only merit serious consideration when CBC has commissioned a current and comprehensive survey report on the implications and impact of proposed changes on traffic, pedestrians and residential areas which will be affected. Totally unacceptable that CBC are running this based on an inadequate consultation exercise and faulty traffic modelling figures showing an across the board reduction in traffic numbers. Exactly where do these vehicles go?
