Cardiff’s Labour Council is considering introducing a north bound bus lane on Caerphilly Road from its junction with Lon-y-Groes stopping short of the junction with Rhydhelig Avenue.
I hope you will agree with me that such a proposal must not go ahead as it would lead to further congestion in the city as traffic turning right onto Rhydhelig Avenue will result in an even longer queue back to the fly-over than that currently experienced at peak hours.
This will have an impact for everyone that uses Caerphilly Road.

The number of buses using Caerphilly Road does not warrant an independent bus lane. This will cause tailbacks to Gabalfa flyover and dangerous situations where traffic crosses into Manor Way from the flyover.
Yet another ill-thought out idea from our Council. Just as Manchester is scrapping its bus lanes to cure congestion, C.C.C. propose another one for the city, making things worse.
Caerphilly road congestion is a drain on resources as workers sit in traffic jsms for hours each week instead of being productive! This new plan will cause more delays and make Cardiff worse!
You will have 2 lanes of traffic entering a blind lane and not being able to proceed, with the outer lane blocked by right turning traffic. The whole of the Caerphilly Road problems could be cured by the use of traffic wardens, and cost less.
Bus lanes are a 'policy'/religion for Cardiff council (aka owner of Cardiff bus). They fail to measure the outcomes, and are anti driver. Bus lanes are wasteful for 90% of the time! especially at night. The manor way bus lane is a total failure - dangerous and generally not used by the buses on the road.
Nearly all Cardiff "traffic measures cause more pollution due to braking/accelerating , damage to cars , and the endless delays caused during the works , not a single extra person will catch a bus after these measures are put in place
