Flaming Geyser State Park is on the potential mothball list because of mandated state budget cuts. Suspending operation at the park would be a threat to public safety and our land. Park closures can lead to undesirable activity such as dumping, illegal harvesting, unlawful activity and more.
The park is currently in jeopardy because of the proposed high cost to fix its infrastructure. Signers of this petition do not want to see the park mothballed. We believe there are alternatives and are willing to work with our local representatives to devise a plan to keep the park operational.

The responses from the officials have been dismissive so far and the weight of this fight is starting to settle in. I am spending my evenings reviewing the budget proposals to find a logical path forward that keeps the gates open. It is exhausting work but the park is worth the struggle.

Reaching this point has been exhausting but watching the momentum build proves that people are not going to let this park slip away. I am tired of the silence from officials yet this show of support keeps me moving forward.

Fix the roads and keep the gates open. Stop cutting funding for the places we actually enjoy in this state.
so sad to hear this. i go hiking here every weekend with my dog. please dont let this happen.
My kids grew up camping here. You cant just shut it down because of a budget spreadsheet. Keep it open.
TOTAL B.S. they find money for everything else but let our parks rot. do better.
This place is a gem. If they close it down we all know it will just become a spot for vandals and trash. Leave it open for the families who use it.

Been going to flaming geyser for 30 years. It is a part of our community. Find a better way to handle the budget than ruining our parks.
