Sign this petition to inform North Attleboro's elected officials that you want them to find a solution to: 1. keep Allen Avenue School open! 2. keep class sizes low at all elementary schools! 3. avoid redistricting all children!
This affects ALL residents of North Attleboro, MA!

Closure of Allen Avenue School will:

  • Affect ALL schools – not just displaced Allen Avenue students and teachers. Students and families at Amvet Boulevard School, Community School, Falls School, Martin School, and Roosevelt Avenue School will also ALL be affected.
  • Increase class sizes, causing a detrimental effect on ALL North Attleboro elementary students. The average class size will increase to “26  students (up from an average of less than 20)”.
  • Decrease MCAS scores over time. Elementary students will have less individual attention from teachers – some students will falter and less will excel.
  • Necessitate redistricting, resulting in the movement of children from their current school to a new school.
  • Result in the displaced tenured teachers displacing other less senior teachers in many schools.
Please tell other public school parents and concerned citizens!

I just checked the dashboard and saw we hit a thousand signatures which honestly feels surreal because I remember when it was just me panicking at my kitchen table with a laptop open. My brain is honestly still trying to process how many people actually care about Allen Avenue because seeing so many neighbors chime in makes the prospect of these huge classes feel a lot less inevitable. It is just so wild that a bunch of us who probably never would have met otherwise are now all stuck in this together trying to keep our schools from falling apart.

I noticed we are climbing toward that thousand mark and honestly my head is spinning thinking about the impact of these district changes on our kids. If we can get a quick burst of momentum right now before the town council meeting it really changes the energy in the room when we walk in there with our list of names.

stop cutting costs at the expense of our kids education. 26 kids in a class is way to many for elementary school.

Allen Ave is an institution in this town. Really disappointed that this is even being talked about.

My oldest went there and now my youngest is starting. This is a huge part of our neighborhood and it would be a shame to lose it.
