Protect our 2nd graders quality of education: Oppose North Babylon's plan at Parliament Place
Join us in the fight to protect our 2nd graders quality of education by opposing the North Babylon UFSD's plan to eliminate 1 of the 3 current second grade teachers at Parliament Place Elementary School for the 2012-2013 school year. This change will result in class sizes of 30 students-which is the maximum allowed number of students for grade 2. Due to several factors including a class consisting of many medical, behavioral, and academically challenged students, this change will create classrooms that will offer restricted attention to student's learning and overall well-being.
***Please sign this petition AND also personally contact Dr. Judith Marino, Assistant Superintendent for Educational Services at (631) 620-7016 or e-mail her at [email protected]. Calls and emails are necessary to place addtional pressure on the district to reverse this horrible plan!!
The Board of Education made this decision just 2 weeks before the start of the school year!!! We must act fast to protect our children's quality of education and prevent this from happening in any futures classes of the young, aspiring minds of North Babylon!

The volume of support has secured us a formal meeting with the administrative office later this week. I am currently drafting a letter of concern that outlines the specific impact these class size increases will have on our students.

My son is in 2nd grade and he needs the extra help. please dont do this.
30 kids in one room is way too many. how are they supposed to get any actual learnin done? this is so unfair to the teachers and the kids.
I remember when classes were small and teachers actually had time for everyone. dont let them pack these rooms like sardines.
30 kids is a disaster waiting to happen. fix this now.
UNACCEPTABLE. two weeks before school starts? these people have no idea what they are doing. keep the classes smaller.

Just ridiculous. stop cutting corners when it comes to our kids education.
