Let's save Waterford Preschool!
After 50 years, Waterford Preschool has received the shocking news that it will be closing in early December - with no warning or consultation with teachers or the community - leaving families and staff devastated with few alternatives
The closure of preschools is a growing and alarming trend as there is already a severe shortage of quality affordable early childhood care, widely understood to be the most important years of a child’s development.
Waterford Community Preschool is an institution having educated more than 3000 children in its 50 years. Its staff have been teaching in the Preschool for an average of 15 years - providing stability and continuity in an industry with extremely high turnover.
Families are outraged and calling on the school to reverse its decision or at the very least postpone the closure until the end of 2021 so they preschool can be relocated and saved.
Waterford Preschool has the most incredible team of talented, loving and experienced staff, a beautiful space and an amazing Community! We must save this rare treasure!
The future of children and families in the Waverley Community now and in the future depend on it.

Please save Waterford Preschool, it has a place special in thousands of children’s and parents hearts! My two beautiful daughters went there several years ago and being a preschool teacher myself I felt assured and proud for children to be attending there
I’m so proud of my mum who has dedicated her life to early child hood education. Growing up I have seen and learnt how important this preschool is and how imperative it is to take care of our early child hood educators along with the beautiful new generation.
This is the most devastating news!!! This preschool provides such community support and teaching to all children!!! Including those with additional needs. The teachers are amazing...... surely this can not be happening to such. A highly regarded and passionate centre!!!!
There are so few options for preschools in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney. Waterford is a much-loved institution and it is devastating for the families and staff that the College has made this decision with such little regard for the important role that the preschool plays in the community.
The community can’t lose that preschool. I’m really struggling to find another preschool for my kid next year, all the preschools nearby don’t have availability to enroll anyone, 4-5 months are too short to do this.
Please don't close this preschool.

Save Waterford Preschool. Preschool education has a long history on this site, once known as the child study centre and was a demonstration preschool as part of the Institute of Early Childhood. A beautiful space and an amazing treasure for the Waverley community.
