Dear Mayor Butler:
I'm writing today in support of Sharon McAlister, her disabled son Adam and his service dog, Walter.
It is my understanding that you intend to side with the prosecution in this matter and have Walter registered as a dangerous dog.
Walter has never attacked another human being or animal in his life. He was rescued from a shelter several years ago and has been a member of the McAlister family and a service dog for their son, Adam, completely changing his quality of life and frankly, the quality of life for the entire McAlister family.
If he had at all harmed another person or animal, then this would be a different story altogether. However, that is not the case. Their neighbor has been caught on several occasions agitating Walter and attempting to video the ordeal. Any animal behaves in this manner when taunted or teased, especially in defense of their property and family.
For the above reasons, I hope that you will seriously reconsider your stance in siding with the prosecution. Walter is a cherished member of the family and this decision could ultimately endanger not just his life but the life of a disabled member of your community.
Please use your influence and voice for the greater good in this situation -the well being of many are depending on it.
Kind Regards,
Team Walter

I just refreshed the page and saw we hit triple digits which is just wild because I honestly thought it would be mostly family and friends clicking this thing. I am sitting here staring at the screen and thinking about Walter and how he has no idea that a hundred people are basically standing in his corner right now.

I was just looking at the total and my heart is racing because we are creeping up on that big one thousand mark. If each of you could just grab a neighbor or a friend or even just someone in your group chat to sign this right now it would totally change the way the mayor looks at this mountain of support.

I just checked the count and we are teetering right on the edge of a hundred signatures which is honestly wild since I started this on my couch in my pajamas staring at the ceiling. If you could text the link to just one or two people who actually care about dogs and common sense right now it might be enough to push us over that mark before the end of the day.

Stop punishing dogs for doing their jobs of protecting their families and their properties! If it were a police service dog they surely wouldn't want it not to protect them when needed! Stop double standards when it comes to our innocent animals!
If Walter is a registered service dog, he has surpassed even most people's pets in temperament. Service dogs have such an incredible impact on people with disabilities, allowing them to live a much fuller life. Breed should never come into question.
I was so touched by this story. I have a dog who helps me with my disabilities and so do many people. Let's show that we'll stand up for disabled people and their helper dogs against harassment and bullying. Please help Adam and Walter stay together!
How in the world can a person intelligent enough to become Mayor of a city actually side against this service dog??!! I hope that you will be able to educate yourself in time to stand up for service animals and the American citizens that need them.
Please consider this case just as if this was your service dog, a dear friend that is a literal lifeline that you totally depended on. Please allow Adam to continue to have that peace of mind and comfort by by keeping his dog by his side. Thank you!
The PIOS that taunted the dog needs to get a life and leave ppl and there animals alone, He should be fined heavily then 5 minutes with me to berate him
I love all animals
