An Open Letter to the Mantachie Board of Aldermen:
I'm writing today in support of Sharon McAlister, her disabled son Adam and his service dog, Walter.
It is my understanding that the prosecution and local law enforcement officials are intending to have Walter registered as a dangerous dog.
Walter has never attacked another human being or animal in his life. He was rescued from a shelter several years ago and has been a member of the McAlister family and a service dog for their son, Adam, completely changing his quality of life and frankly, the quality of life for the entire McAlister family.
If he had at all harmed another person or animal, then this would be a different story altogether. However, that is not the case. Their neighbor has been caught on several occasions agitating Walter and attempting to video the ordeal. Any animal behaves in this manner when taunted or teased, especially in defense of their property and family.
For the above reasons, I hope that you will step in and make our voices heard. Walter is a cherished member of the family and this decision could ultimately endanger not just his life but the life of a disabled member of your community.
Please use your influence and voice for the greater good in this situation -the well being of many are depending on it.
Kind Regards,
Team Walter

Please consider this case just as if this was your service dog, a dear friend that is a literal lifeline that you totally depended on. Please allow Adam to continue to have that peace of mind and comfort by by keeping his dog by his side. Thank you!
Please keep this beautiful, productive and cherished dog alive and with his guardians. Let's look at and investigate the neighbor who is agitating and teasing Walter. Any dog, animal or human will react and try to protect him/herself if being bullied.
A service dog has to pass many tests to be certified, including temperament tests. Just because a dog is of a certain breed does not equate to dangerous animal. The neighbor needs to research this function since he appears to be the one with the issue
The neighbour should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves!! Walter is a service dog and to take him away from his owner would be a total disgrace. Perhaps the police should investigate the actions of this neighbour and pursue harassment charges.
I think you as a town and Board of Alderman are in violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Department of Justice ruling on breed specific discrimination. I have requested a clarification from the Department of Justice via-email.
Poor dog . Hope this helps People should mind their Own business , unless having To help
Please ley Sweet waterpolo stay with family that needed him so much.

As a service animal his life is just as important as his owner's. Theere needs to be a distinguishing factor based on his behavior. He is more a benefit than a threat. Plus look at his owner's life now, would you really want to break his heart as well?
