On October 11th, our 2 year old Mixed Breed Dog, Rocky got off of his tie out. He ran around to the front of our Girard Home, where he met our mail woman. The mail woman screamed and proceeded to hit Rocky with her mail bag. Naturally, Rocky bit the mail bag, as any dog would have. The City Of Girard has decided that because of this Rocky is a vicious dog and we have 10 days to get rid of him, before they do!
Please help us show the City Of Girard that this is unacceptable and send a message that they can't do this! This isn't only to help us keep our beloved dog, but this is to prevent future incidents from happening. Your dog could be next!
Please sign this petition that we can present to the City of Girard to let them know that citizens think it is an outrage that any dog they can deem any dog unfit can be covered under their vague blanket ordinance regarding dogs. Time and time again legislation of this nature has been overturned. In fact, the very dog that this ordinance was written for has since been removed from the state of Ohio's "vicious" dog list.
Once you've signed the petition, please pass it on! We are hoping to get 300 signatures by tomorrow to present this to the mayor. Help us make a difference!
The days feel incredibly heavy and the pressure from the city is constant. We are nearing five hundred signatures and reaching that mark might be the leverage we need to finally be taken seriously. Please keep pushing this forward because Rocky does not have much time left.

Its a dog. They bite when they get hit. It is basic instinct not viciousness. Girard needs better leaders.

TOTAL BS. Ohio laws on this are already outdated. They need to leave these people and their dog alone right now.

So unfair. I hope the mayor listens to common sense for once.

This is completely ridiculous! The poor dog was just protecting himself after being hit. Leave Rocky alone!

The city needs to stop overreacting. Hitting a dog with a bag is just asking for a bite. Don't punish the animal for the mail carrier's own stupidity.

My heart breaks for this family. Rocky is a good boy and he deserves to stay in his home.
