We, the students at UCSB, call for the gymnastics-apparatus and tumbling classes, led by Coach Mircea Badulescu, to not be removed from the ESS department here at UCSB.
The program is very important to all of us students; many of us continue to retake the classes every quarter because we enjoy the instruction and learning under such an accomplished and knowledgeable head coach. The classes are extremely rewarding and provide us with useful skillsets applicable within and without the gymnasium. Coach Badulescu has been coaching at UCSB for nearly 32 years; it would be a huge loss for the department and the university if the program were to be shut down, and Coach Badulescu had to leave. His decorated history of accomplishments in the gymnastics world demonstrate that he is more than qualified to coach the classes. He is respected and beloved by all the students who sign up each quarter.

Mircea was my son's coach in his first year (Fitz Carlile) at UCSB Not only was his coaching incredible, it also sent Fitz off to an astonishing career. Thanks Mircea. Still thinking about you 32 years later
Coach Badulescu is an inspirational man who has undoubtably changed my time and experience here at UCSB. I cannot iterate enough the positive impact of his presence on his students at UCSB. He has helped me understand the person I want to be - a passionate, compassionate, hard-working, kind, and generous man.
As a former acrobat and a UCSB cheerleader, rob gym has been home away from home for me the past 3 years I have been here. There are hardly any gymnastic centers in the area, let alone ones with as decorated of an instructor as we have. Rob gym is great asset to ucsb.
As a UCSB cheerleader, the importance of this program is immense and is helping so many of our cheerleaders to increase their skill levels and recruit new talent for our teams.
Taking beginner tumbling was one of my favorite experiences at UCSB and since I'm abroad, I was hoping to do it again when I come back for my entire senior year! Coach M teaches more than front handsprings: he teaches love of the body, hard work, and discipline.
I personally know Mircea and trained with him for a few weeks, I know that he is a great coach and he deserves the job.

I took his class as someone who had never before done gymnastics. Also I still have surprisingly little flexibility. But I'm so proud to have had him as a teacher. I'm in awe of him, his story, and how he looks at least a generation younger than he is. I tell stories of that class to this day, about a decade after taking it.
