We the undersigned object strongly to the removal of the Saturday Household waste facility at the Fairground Car Park Haslemere, and call upon Surrey County Council to either retain the service or provide equivalent facilities in Haslemere to those provided in Cranleigh, Farnham and Godalming (Witley).

Surrey County Council thinks they can just dump this problem on us and walk away. We are almost at one hundred signatures so get this link to your neighbors right now to show the council we will not be ignored.

We were promised this service when the site of the previous tip was used for the Herons sports centre following Tescos building on the site of the existing swimming pool. Withdrawal will cause increased traffic in Witley and will almost certainly add to fly tipping.
this is a well supported and needed service to the Haslemere and surrounding community. We pay massive Council Taxes and this is just one of the many services we need as part of that social contract.
the recycling/waste carts are an essential service every Saturday there is little other options available in Haslemere and Witley is too far to go every time. I would be worried things will end up being dumped or just stuffed into dustbins instead.
From Hindhead to the nearest household waste facility we drive either 11 miles there and back into Farnham or 16 miles there and back to Witley. If SCC take stop the household facility at the Fairground residents have a legal right to ask for compensation.
Getting rid of this service will lead to more domestic bonfires which already blight rare sunny days. The green collection service is a relatively expensive alternative to dispose of a (large) lawn's worth of grass cuttings every week.
If theCouncil improved the speed of planning for new homes the additional council tax raised could pay for this facility in Haslemere alone!

The many 100's of people who use the Saturday morning service will simply stream to Witley to dump their waste. They will clog up the roads, add fumes where there should be none and help create even more potholes than already exist in Surrey. How short sighted!
