Clark/Heller theatre is a second family, and even a second home, to many young students in the Tulsa area learning and practicing different types and roles of stage production.

A couple years ago, Tulsa closed Clark Theatre and transferred it's programs to Henthorne. Now, Mayor Dewey Bartlett has proposed budget cut ideas which plan to cut funding to Henthorne Park. This means the Performing Arts Center there will be shut down and all programs discontinued as of August. These programs include the Home School Drama Program, Laughing Matter (an improvisational comedy show), multiple plays throughout the year (some of which are written and directed by the young adults), and many others. There has been discussions about transferring the programs to a new location, however talk has been minimal, nothing is concrete or even listed as a possibility yet, and there are very few theatres left in the Tulsa area, of which most have their own programs that could potentially conflict.

I worked for many years with Heller Theatre and knew many children who benefited from Clark Theatre. The arts are to important to even consider cutting. The theatre community in Tulsa is thriving. How sad that the city wants to cut these exciting programs.

This is too important a resource for the city to loose. I was one of the founding members of the Clark program and it changed my life and the lives of all who went through the program, many of us are still friends today 30 year later!

Clark is instrumental in building the confidence and social skills of so many Tulsa youth including my daughter. It would be an absolute travesty to lose such a positive part of our community.

Clark was so important to/for my oldest daughter! She's now an adult and some of her best friends are her Clarkies! My nephew and many of my friends' kids/grandkids are involved with Clark. It is a Tulsa icon and our kids and our community NEEEEED Clark/Henthorne!

This year was our first to participate at clark. All 4 of our children learned a ton, had fun, and want to continue. Where else can you find an all-youth production of Shakespeare EVERY YEAR?!

Heller theater is very important to my family. We participate in many of the activities there, we volunteer and we pay to see plays and improv shows. It's important to have an affordable, family friendly venue for theater in our community.
