The Burdekin Shire Council
plans to remove a beautiful native tree in the Theatre Forecourt to make way for a temporary Christmas tree this year 2024. Please sign this petition to let them know that this is an unacceptable choice.

The Burdekin Shire Council thought they could hack down a historic tree for a plastic decoration without anyone noticing. This momentum proves they were dead wrong and now they have no choice but to face the reality that we are not going to let them destroy our town's character.

Not against the Xmas tree going in the Burdekin theatre/library grounds, but leave this shady native. How about round back of theatre where the angel wings painting is opposite library. Good access from quite road for workers to safely erect.

Extremely short sighted and not an environmentally sound idea to remove thos tree. Perhaps some thoughtful and imaginative decoration of the Tuckeroo tree. There are lots of creative folk in the Burdekin that could help out the council.

This is so wrong to cut this beautiful tree down, for the sake of erecting a temporary Christmas tree. Cutting it down will definitely cause an uproar, and anger amongst local people. Spare a thought too for the wildlife, that regard the tree, as their habitat. Should be protected species.

The council need to leave the shady tree there, it's important to have shade so people can sit under while waiting for theatre shows to start, especially the children & elderly of the community.

We need that tree to stay where it is, rather than a tatty , old metal pretender that only comes out for a couple of weeks, why can’t the old Christmas tree stay by the fountain in queen street wee it belongs?

Is this council for real? First all the trees in the main street, then the side streets, and now possibly the only shady tree in a concrete courtyard? Listen to your community and leave it be.

Leave the Xmas tree on the roundabout.
