Havelock North's enormous 150 year old landmark tree T1 is currently on the HDC Protected Tree Register HOWEVER St Columba’s Church has made a submission to Hastings District Council to have this iconic tree REMOVED from the Tree Register SO IT CAN BE CUT DOWN !!! This church wishes to clear the land the tree stands on to maximise the $ return from a proposed commercial development. This tree is a 50m (150 ft) landmark, it dates from the founding of Havelock North, it must be retained! A Professional Arbor Report confirms the tree is well maintained, in good health and most importantly is safe and sound in trunk and limb. At 150 years old it this species can easily last another 250 years This tree must be retained for the benefit of future generations! Please sign the petition to save this tree.

ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING. 150 years old and they want to cut it down for a parking lot?? greed is pathetic.

that tree has been there forever. so sad that a church would choose money over such a beautiful part of our history. leave it alone.
