The Bethlehem Rose Garden is under attack by The Bethlehem Area School District who has set forth a plan to the City of Bethlehem to turn a portion of the park into a parking lot for the next three years during the construction of the new Middle School. The area under attack is the present site bordering 10 Ave and Union Blvd where the playground now stands. The proposal has received little attention by the local newspapers and I'm sure many of the neighbors or people who live near or even use the park are aware of the proposal by BASD! An alternative to creating a parking lot would be to use the vacant Martin Tower parking lots and shuttle teachers and staff to the school during the week. Please help to save our Rose Garden and leave it as is by signing this petition!

The paved area by the band shell could be expanded on 8th Ave and left that way. It would then be a short distance to walk up 8th Ave and cross at the crosswalk to the school. We are only talking 81 spaces. I'm sure something else can be figured out without taking such drastic measures.
