The paved area by the band shell could be expanded on 8th Ave and left that way. It would then be a short distance to walk up 8th Ave and cross at the crosswalk to the school. We are only talking 81 spaces. I'm sure something else can be figured out without taking such drastic measures.

i live across the street from the rose garden. please do not take away my pretty view. there is not a lot of parking space left on street now,and when neighbors need work done on homes,no place for their trucks to park. please use martin towers, or the field by the school to put teachers..

What would they do if the park was NOT there? Would they not build the School? No, they would block off the street and detour the cars. Taking over the park for the convenience of the school district or the contractor is not an option. There is plenty of room in the street that inconveniences only those who drive. Detours are ALWAYS done when streets are renovated. You cannot detour neighborhood park users to another park. Looking around all I see is parking lots and paved areas (Union Blvd, Lowes, Martin Towers.) Have them use those under utilized resources before the park is considered!

There are plenty of parking spots at Martin Towers that are not being used. There are also two signaled crosswalks along the way to safely cross 8th Ave. If part of the Rose Garden is made into a parking lot I doubt that the people will walk up to the corner at 8th Ave and Union Blvd to safely cross the street at the signaled crosswalk. I could see people crossing the busy Union Blvd at 9th or 10th Ave where there is NO signaled crosswalk and would be dangerous.

This question was asked by Leslie Thrash: Is there a paper copy of this petition for people who do not have computer access? I do not have one but would be willing to start one!

Tom, you can help by spreading the word and sharing this petition link. A large amount of people have no idea this is proposed. City council has not voted yet, but we need to let as many people know about it and let city council know that we are not happy about this before its too late and they start ripping up the park!
