May 9, 2017 Tuesday Special Second Study Session Meeting on whether to change the Indian Symbol or not, as requested by board member Robb Felder to hear more information on costs of change, dress code if changed etc.
May 18, 2017 Mr. Hurtado tabled the Napa High Indian Symbol with no date set for continuance.

Community comments will be heard during this second study session and a decision will likely
be made after May 9, 2017 school board meeting regarding changing the Napa High Logo. If the school board does vote to change our logo, they will then begin a process where all our current and incoming students will be able to have a voice in submitting and selecting a new logo. More information on the process will be provided once a decision is made.
At the May 18,2017 Mr. Hurtado tabled the Napa High Indian Symbol with no date set for continuance.

As a registered Indian, I am sad to even think that a tradition for over 120 years would be eliminated. The Indian culture thrives on traditions and knowledge from their ancestors. Please continue that here at Napa High and keep the Indian mascot.
The Wappo tribe is apart of the history of our land, the name is appropriate and fitting for where generation of this community grew up. I was taught this at Westwood elementary and was proud to apart of the Napa High class of 1995 as a Napa Indian.
As a person of Native American heritage, I am proud to be a Napa High Indian (class of 60). As parent of two former "Crushers" I question the use of a mascot promoting alcohol and violence far more than a historically mistreated, but proud ethnic group.
Absolutely ridiculous. Does anyone realize the cost of changing the logo for a school. It's enormous. Leave it alone. Pretty sure there are way more important things to spend the money on! This PC bull has gone way too far! Go Napa Indians!
I graduated 1966. My cousin Patrick McMann and my brother Ray Merrill broke diving records at Napa High. The old Indian head has special meaning going back 70 years. Please KEEP our Indian our mascot. Charlotte Merrill Trethewey Class of 1966
