The plan as proposed runs a road through the
Greenway, an eleven mile green route to Radford Semele along the old rail line,
partially consisting of national cycle route. This route is currently only
interrupted twice, once for the Fosse Way after 9 miles, and once more on the
outskirts of Offchurch.
In addition it ring fences the Cawston Woods.
- The road cutting across the Greenway to be scrapped.
- The Greenway to benefit from a minimum 30M buffer as per the Cawston Woods, perhaps with additional trees to maintain the open countryside feel of the Greenway.
- The housing west of Cawston Woods should be reduced to allow a significant green space, complementing and connect the Greenway to Cawston Woods. Such as shown in the following image where a 200m to 250m wide green space is created between the two.

- Footpaths to be created connecting Cawston Woods to the Greenway through this new green space.
- A wider buffer to the south of Cawston Woods to allow walkers and cyclists to continue to enjoy the feeling of being in the countryside, as this part of the ancient woodland is difficult to pass through.
- The Woodland Trust is engaged to help create a space that complements both the woods and the Greenway.
- Parking facilities, perhaps between the Greenway and the A4071 to allow all residents of Rugby to enjoy this precious green space.
- Footpaths leading north and south of Cawston Woods to create a beautiful circular route when added to existing paths through Cawston Woods. Depending the route taken through the woods and footpaths could exceed 3 miles in length.

Important to maintain open spaces and protect woodland where ever possible. Especially as Warwickshire near Rugby and especially sw Rugby has very little woodland. Many arguments for quality green spaces to be provided as developments go up and the town expands so rapidly.
It's ludicrous to develop this area. It's natural beauty in every season is wonderful. The wildlife I've seen is magical to watch, I've seen squirrels rabbits birds of prey and the occasional deer. We walk our dogs frequently and just love it
I have used the old railway track for walks for nearly 30 years. Going with my Dad when I was about 10 every Sunday and I now do this with my own children.
Not only is this one of my favourite places to walk dog safetly nor is it just the fact there is so much nature residing in it, nor the fact it has so much history.. But their are a bunch of amazing people that have given up their own time and really grafted to maintain the area for others to enjoy! Why ruin another piece of beautiful land?
Madness. next stop will be Lawford Heath after they have covered the remaining land between Cawston and Dunchurch. What will be left after the building proposed on the Radio Station and Ashlawn Road now Brownsover has been covered? Got to be stopped.
Would love a country park here, it's needed
Yes please. The woods and old railway track were vital to us during lockdown and remain a favourite place to go

It is shameful of Rugby Borough Council to remove such precious green areas to make way for roads to help sustain unwanted housing. Housing the minority of working class people can't afford unless you are in executive incomes.
