One hundred people have stepped up to protect this cove from the developers trying to bulldoze our history. Charles Womac and his family deserve better than watching their legacy get crushed by greedy land speculators.

I agree to save the place but the underage drinking needs to be stopped and people throwing trash, beer cans, cigarette butts etc. In the water needs to be stopped as well. I enjoyed visiting this place but I would hate to see it get trashed by inconsiderate people.
This place holds special memory's for my daughter whose love spent a lot of time here he passed away in a trajic motorcycle accident and they make an annual trip here to honor his memory please don't close
Family tradition people will get hurt no matter what at least this wonderful place has supervision and isn't 5 miles or more back in the woods off a beaten path where medical help can barely make it to this seems more of a personal political movement than public safety
The owner of this place does everything right. It's not their fault idiots dont obey by the rules and get themselves hurt. Hes just trying to give people a nice place to go swimming.
I drove 3 hours to the blue cove hideaway from Dahlonega, GA only to find out it was shut down. We found a great spot that overlooked the cove. Breathtaking beauty... And if done right a great place to have a lot of fun safely!
Sheriff Hollywood Joe Guy has harassed this place for years to get on the news. I have so many good memories here and this personal campaign against the only place in Athens to go swimming is ridiculous. It's a lake pure and simple. We don't require lifeguards at any other lake in the state. Drownings happen at higher rates all over East Tennessee and we don't demand the lakes be shut down by twra or tva. Those lakes charge entry fees as well even though the water isn't chlorinated and there are no lifeguards. This entire personal vendetta by the MCSD is ridiculous. As to alcohol use, it is 100% completely legal to drink on private property or on any public waters in the state as long as you aren't operating a boat. So, hogwash! Does he sell or give alcohol to minors? No! So, go after the people purchasing alcohol for minors not him for not checking IDs on private property. It is not his responsibility to check everyone's I'd when he doesn't provide the alcohol.

I got married here 4 years ago while my husband was on a job in Chattanooga. The owners were very nice and laid back, I planned on bringing our kids back so they could see where we got married. Im sad that it’s been shut down.
