(Bright Bus) who run the green buses that run routes to and from Notre Dame High School have informed a number of students that they can no longer viably run some of their services to Notre Dame and other schools across the city.
The 783 Bus which runs through Ecclesfield, Chapeltown, Grenoside and Hillsborough will no longer be available during the morning route to school after the Christmas holidays, causing disruption to many students who live in the North of Sheffield. There are limited alternatives for students who live up to 12 miles away from Notre Dame and heavily rely on this daily service to transport them to school.
As a result of Bright Bus' decision, it will inevitably cause a high number of 783 users to board other school buses leading to an already over crowded service. We would be seeking reassurance that the (Bright Bus) drivers are adhering to the Health and Safety procedures, ensuring that only allow a legal amount of passengers are allowed onboard their buses.
I believe that the students of Notre Dame have a right to a Catholic education and this unfortunately means that students have to travel a long distance and require a reliable morning bus service.
If you can support our petition and offer your signature it would provide us with stronger ground in our vow to save the 783 Bus!

How are they expected to get to school, the service was available when they opted to go to Notre Dame, many for religious reasons. The journey is long enough, 1 hour+ without changing buses and/or trains.!!!! =
How do they expect to offload an already full to capacity bus onto other buses? How will my son get all the way to Notre Dame school in a morning? If it means increasing prices across all routes then do so to save them all!!! Paul High Green, Sheffield
For 7 years I attended Notre Dame & without the 783 bus route I would have been looking at over an hour & a half journey to and from school each day costing a considerable amount over the year too. Myself, like many other, did & still do reply heavily in this service it would be a shame to see it stop.
My daughter uses this service and I do not drive. She would have to catch 2 buses without it and set off an hour earlier due to bus times. It deeply saddens me that it is being removed. It is unsafe for 11 year olds to be catching 2 buses to school on their own.
My foster children are hoping to attend Notre dam school for 6th form next year, if this bus is removed they will have no option but to find alternative higher education elsewhere which is a shame as notre dam has a great reputation and staggering results !
Absolutely disgusted at this decision putting young lives at risk - profit ahead of Childrens safety is appalling

The day the 783 bus didn't arrive the 782 bus ended up being 40 mins late for school as it picked up some of the 782 stops and lead to massive overcrowding. Making it unfair and unsafe for users of both services.
