SAVE RIDGEWOOD PARK FROM BEING CLOSED BY THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI. RIDGEWOOD PARK'S ADDRESS IS:
5730 MALDEN CORPUS CHRISTI TEXAS
RIDGEWOOD PARK IS LOCATED ON HOLLY ROAD BETWEEN EVERHART AND SOUTH STAPLES BEHIND WALNUT RIDGE APARTMENT COMPLEX AND ACROSS FROM SOUTHSIDE MONTESSORI SCHOOL.
I spent this morning walking the trails at Ridgewood Park and seeing so many neighbors enjoying the space despite the looming threat of closure. My meetings with city officials are ongoing and I am ensuring they understand exactly what this park means to our families.
July 24, 2014
Seeing this kind of momentum feels unreal because I have spent so many afternoons watching neighborhood kids play at Ridgewood. Knowing so many people feel just as protective of this space gives me hope that we can actually stop the city from taking it away.

Green space in urban areas is valuable for today as well as for future generations. A new approach to maintaining smaller parks rather than disposing of them is needed. Thank you for starting this petition.

i grew up playing at this park and now my own kids go there. its wrong to just sell it off to the highest bidder when we barely have enough green space left as it is.

Just wondering if the park across the street, adjacent to the Montessori school is also on the park closing list? My son practices football at Ridgewood Park. My other son practices his soccer at the park too. Instead of selling off Ridgewood Park my sons and I would like to see a basketball court put in. I always drive my kids to a basketball court to play because we don't have one in the neighborhood. Ridgewood Park is ideal for a basketball court, and it would be less grass to cut.

How about instead of getting rid of our parks the last spots of public land in the city to enjoy. You know the Adopt A High a Highway program. How about Save the Parks volunteer program

The city says they are doing this because of money problems. Umm they have no problems voting for their own raises and getting them. Or the seatbelt ticket fund raisers catching you in the u turns. this city rakes it in. But things will never change they get richer we get run down streets unless its important to them.

I completely agree, I practiced at this park for months and I will never forget it, not to mention the convenience of the playground next to it where my siblings could play while my practices were going on. Corpus Christi has a sheer lack of parks and open spaces, and we need to preserve the ones we can. I hope officials see this and decide against tearing it down, because children need a place to unwind and humans in general need open space from time to time and often we just need to enjoy the outdoors. Parks and nature are valuable, and I pray that we realize this before it is too late. Thank you for reading and listening to my voice.
